But if there is one thing he learned from the years spent fighting back against monsters from another dimension, it's that one can never have too many friends with common interests. Eddie, thankfully, helped him find a much-needed balance in a life where he had been too often used to putting all of himself into one tiny little box and forgetting his own wants and needs.
It's a work in progress, really. But it's been working a lot more lately. Maybe also because he had come to realize he needs to work on himself. It had been a painful revelation at first, but now that the pain had receded he's finding that having time to spend guilt-free with friends has made it worth it.
He pulls into the trailer park relatively quickly, mostly because the Hoppers-Byers's new place is not too far away, and grabs the couple of requested supplies from the back. He's also got a book with him and a rolled up piece of paper, all of which he tries to juggle in his arms, and lock up his car without dropping anything. He's mostly successful, almost dropping the peanut butter but managing to regain his grip on it before long. )
Where do you want these, kitchen? ( He lets himself in, still miraculously not dropping anything, but definitely looks mere moments away from doing so. )
[Eddie just grins as Jonathan lets himself in, cocking his head towards the counter where the blender sits, as he's practically elbow-deep in dishwater and can't point] Already got set up, so right over there. I'll be done here in a minute.
[The friendship is one that's been a surprise to Eddie as well, they hadn't really run in the same circles in school, though there had been some overlap, mostly Eddie had just known him as the guy whose brother went missing, and then later the guy who'd cold-clocked Steve Harrington. Then they'd both become members of the inter-dimensional monster-hunters club, and had somehow survived that. After that most of their contact had been incidental, at least at first, mostly thanks to Will having been folded into the Hellfire Club as if he'd always been there.
But even that had evolved into whatever this was now, and right at the moment Eddie wasn't thinking too hard about the history, just on finishing up with the dishes so they can get started.] There's tall glasses in the dish rack, if you want to take a towel to those so they're ready, then pick a flavor to start with and we'll go from there.
( Jonathan moves around Eddie's trailer like it's nothing, like he's been here a thousand times before. Maybe it's partially because most kitchens are set up more or less similarly, or that Jonathan happens to have a really good memory for where the Munsons keep their things, but it feels natural to swoop in, place his contributions to their milkshake testing shenanigans, and begin the preparations. )
Oh, uh, Will's finished with the book you lent him. And he wanted me to give you this as a token of thanks.
( The "this" that Jonathan refers to is the rolled up piece of paper, upon which is a painting, clearly a depiction of a scene right out of their campaign. He leaves it on the kitchen counter for Eddie to take a gander at his convenience, when he's not working on washing dishes. ) I'm really curious about this PB&J, figure if we cross that off the list first and it turns out to be terrible one of the other ones can save our tastebuds.
Smart! [It's a bright chirp, clicking his tongue against the side of his teeth a moment later] I even pre-cracked some ice just so we don't burn the motor out doing multiple batches.
[Sure, some people would have just bought a bag of crushed ice to start with, but Eddie is not one of those people, not when he's got a perfectly functional meat tenderizing hammer, heavy-duty ziplock bags, and more ice trays than one person should probably have just from using them to sort parts.] And with peanut butter being a pretty strong flavor we'll probably want another strong flavor after it to counteract it, so not Lemon Chantilly or uhhh [he squints at the list stuck to the fridge with a Palace Arcade magnet] Marshmallow Fluff.
Every Berry could probably work, or really anything that's got a chocolate base instead of vanilla or sherbet.
( Whether they would actually get passed the first couple of flavors remains to be seen, but it still has Jonathan excited. And the fact that Eddie has this all down to a science is pretty entertaining to him. No wonder Eddie and Argyle got along so well. )

Of course I have, what kind of plebeian do you take me for? I just meant that marshmallow alone won't be enough to counteract the flavor of peanut butter if it's too strong in the PB&J.

Important question, making the first batch before starting the toasting process or should I go grab my stash right now?
Okay good, I would have really questioned everything our friendship stood for. ( He smiles to show he's obviously teasing. He would've just insisted Eddie tried one, then and there, if he said no.
It's nice, having this kind of friendship with someone. His friendship with Argyle is nice and all, but they don't have that gentle ribbing that he manages to get with Eddie. ) Now that is a good question. Guess we should probably get your stash, at least get a couple hits in before we dive right in, don't want the milkshakes melting before we're ready.
Oh, right, our friendship based solely on 'what can I make with what's in the cabinets because the paycheck was three days shorter than the groceries', of course.
